The talented cast of ninety-five young performers ages nine to eighteen years, led by Mike Boston, Starting Arts Artistic Director, will delight audiences with a vibrant professional set, over 250 costumes, and flying. This is the first time that Starting Arts has featured flying in a show. To bring the highest level of equipment and training to the production, Starting Arts contracted Flying by Foy out of Las Vegas to work with eight young actors as well as line operators.
“Our summer camp program is dedicated to excellence in musical theater production and education”, said Mike Boston, Starting Arts Artistic Director. “With nearly one hundred students, THE WIZARD OF OZ represents our most ambitious summer effort to date!”
The production will feature a professional set which has dressed stages around the world, including a performance at Madison Square Garden in New York.
THE WIZARD OF OZ musical, adapted by John Kane for the Royal Shakespeare Company, is an enchanting revision of the all-time classic.

About Starting Arts (www.startingarts.com) Located in San Jose, Starting Arts is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that actively promotes all arts disciplines: Dance, Theatre, Music, Visual Arts and Film. Starting Arts was inspired by the simple observation that something special happens when young people connect with the arts. A unique learning environment materializes where students think and communicate through images, music and movement. Arts education creates opportunities for students to develop key life skills and evolve into confident, articulate, team-conscious members of our
communities. We believe that an education without arts exposure is incomplete and falls far short of extraordinary. That unwavering belief has translated into a mission: to make arts education accessible to all students in Bay Area schools. Since its inception in 2000, Starting Arts has served over one hundred and twenty-five schools.
