Arts Advocacy Day

Starting Arts will provide local presence in efforts aimed at garnering Congressional support for arts education policy

SAN JOSE, CA—March 1, 2016— Today, Starting Arts (www.startingarts.com) is proud to announce that it will be participating in Arts Advocacy Day on March 7-8 in Washington, D.C.  This National Arts Action Summit (www.americansforthearts.org/events/arts-advocacy-day) is the largest gathering of its kind, bringing together a broad cross section of America’s cultural and civic organizations.

The event, hosted by Americans for the Arts in partnership with 85 national arts organizations, provides Starting Arts with the opportunity to receive advocacy training from experts in the field.  In addition, Starting Arts will join hundreds of colleagues and grassroots arts advocates from across the country for peer-to-peer networking.

Starting Arts leaders will also have the opportunity to meet with congressional representatives to share stories revealing the positive impact Starting Arts programs have had on Bay Area students, schools and community.

“We are honored to join the Americans for the Arts and support their ongoing mission to make arts accessible to every student,” said Ann Watts, Starting Arts Executive Director.  “By doing so, we will be supporting efforts to shape the lives of thousands of worthy future innovators and world leaders.”

Throughout the past 15 years, Starting Arts has witnessed the positive impact of early and integrated arts experience in the maturation, esteem-building and civic involvement of students who attend their classes and camps, which are run by skilled professional artists who are passionate about the Arts.

Starting Arts currently provides arts education in 104 schools in the Silicon Valley and is seeking additional financial and administrative resources in an effort to bring quality arts education to every school in Silicon Valley.
