Follow the instructions below and make sure to register your child to reserve your spot on the roster and receive important production information.

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

This is a full production with sets, professional light and sound design, and great performances for family and friends. Commitment to the rehearsal days/times is important. Students must stay for the entirety of each rehearsal and can miss a maximum of 3 rehearsals (2 would be preferred). Tech Rehearsals/Performances are mandatory.

-Grades: 3rd-5th grade
-Start Date: October 14th, 2024
-Rehearsal Days/Times: Mondays AND Fridays, 2:45-4:15pm
-Mandatory Tech Rehearsals: January 21-23, 2025 (4 hours after school, exact times TBD)
-Mandatory Performance Dates: January 24-25, 2025 (please note: this is a Friday AND Saturday)
All rehearsals and performances will take place at Ponderosa

An additional Paypal/Credit Card service fee is added when you choose the PayPal/CC payment option. Your registration will be complete immediately if you pay by credit card. If you will be mailing a check without the fees ($260) to Starting Arts, choose the “Mail a check” option at the end of the payment process (you will be given the mailing address). If you are paying by check, your information is in our system once you submit it, but your registration will only be considered complete when the check is received.
