Summer Camps

Summer camp enrollment will open March 1st! Please be sure to read about our refund policy and our tips for a successful registration process. If you have any questions about the camps or any trouble registering, please email [email protected] (do not call the Starting Arts office).

Please note: Covid vaccination is not required to participate in camps, but it is recommended. You will be asked to test the day before your first day of camp (and again before tech week if you are participating in a production).

This camp is for all 5-10 year old arts enthusiasts! With lessons in visual arts, music, theatre, and dance, as well as traditional camp activities (think friendship bracelets and tie dye), campers will spend the week exploring their own imaginations and stretching the limits of their creativity. This camp will include lessons from beloved Starting Arts instructors as well as instructors from our community partners! No experience in any arts discipline is necessary, this camp is about having fun and getting creative.

In this class, students will dive into the fundamentals of playing the ukulele, a delightful stringed instrument. They’ll develop muscle memory while mastering chord structures and simultaneously exercise their brains, as with any new instrument, fostering the creation of neuron pathways. The ukulele serves as an ideal precursor for aspiring guitarists, as its nylon strings encourage gentle callus growth, laying a solid foundation for transitioning to guitars with metal strings in the future. Throughout this week-long intensive, students will not only learn how to play multiple songs but also discover how to harmonize their singing with their instrument.

No experience is necessary for this class. Students do not need to purchase a ukulele for this class. SA will supply ukulele for this camp.

This camp is for Beginning and Intermediate performers and will immerse students in dance, music, and theatre training. It will be challenging at times, but will also be a lot of fun! They will be taught different dance and music styles each day, and learn theatre games and techniques to make them stronger performers. There will also be an emphasis on gaining confidence for going into any audition/performance they may have coming up. Students who have an audition song and/or monologue they’ve already been working on, please bring those with you! If you don’t have an audition song/monologue, we will provide options/materials for you to practice with or take with you to use at an upcoming audition.

These workshops are for Intermediate/Advanced performers. Register for one or both workshops, but the combination will definitely elevate any performer’s confidence going into upcoming auditions/performances. Students who have an audition song and/or monologue they’ve already been working on, please bring those with you if you are registering for the Songs/Monologues Workshop. Please plan to bring a variety of dance shoes (jazz, sneakers, tap) for the Dance Workshop. If you don’t have tap shoes, please let us know if the special info section (and include size) and we can pull out any extra shoes we have.

Explore the art of theatre through magic, clowning and masks! In this week-long camp, students will explore elements of acting and performance, skill, and creativity. Come learn the secrets and methods done by professionals and high-level magicians, while creating your own tricks and presentations! This course will cover tricks involving cards, coins, cups and balls, and more. Amaze your friends and family! No previous skill or experience is needed or required!
