Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka’s rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences.
This will be a Starting Arts virtual production for Bagby students. Rehearsals will happen twice a week over zoom with additional assignments/pre-recorded practice videos for choreography and music if your character is not called to rehearsal. The usual tech week/performance week will be used to have students create recordings of their part while being guided by the director. Then those recordings will be pieced together and professionally edited into a movie. In February, Starting Arts will host a virtual watch party so that students can invite friends and family (from anywhere!) to see their talent, hardwork, and dedication in action! Students will also receive the recording as a souvenir after the watch party.
Start Date: October 6, 2020
