SA Studio productions are open to all students in the age range given- You do not need to be affiliated with a specific school. Rehearsals and performances in the fall will happen virtually. Everyone who registers is in the show, but auditions are held to determine who will play which role(s). You MUST register ahead of time to receive audition information and participate on the first day.
As we get closer to the start date, Starting Arts will evaluate the situation and decide if this production will be a virtual, in-person, or hybrid experience. We have schedules and rehearsal/performance plans for any and all scenarios and will keep you updated. No matter what, the first week of rehearsals (the auditions) will be done virtually and registered participants will receive a zoom link. Any rehearsals that take place in person will be groups of 10-12 students and cast members will rehearse with the same group of students each time. When students are not called to an in-person rehearsal, there will be video and zoom rehearsals.
Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka’s rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences.
