Clara Walker

Clara hails from the windy city, Chicago, IL and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Illinois Wesleyan University with a BFA in Music Theatre.  Her passion in theatre for youth has led her on an exciting journey to entertain, educate, and understand.

She has been entertaining audiences in the Bay Area for 6 years- most recently as “Lady of the Lake” in City Lights Theatre Company’s production of Monty Python’s Spamalot.  Other recent roles include “Sally Applewhite” in It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play and “Kathy” in Company, both at Los Altos Stage Company, and “Mrs. Bedwin” in Oliver! at Broadway by the Bay.  Clara performed for three seasons with California Theatre Center in roles such as “Mollie” in The Mousetrap and “Helena” in A Midsummer Night’s Dream as well as in many plays for young audiences like “Miss Nelson” in Miss Nelson is Missing, “Miss Clavel” in Madeline’s Christmas, and “Beauty” in Beauty and the Beast.

Clara is thrilled to be in fourth school year with Starting Arts.  She has taught in-school dance and theatre programs and directed plays and musicals in dozens of schools across the South Bay and Peninsula.  She has also served as a teaching Artist for CLAP Arts, APC Living History, Portola Valley Theatre Conservatory, Palo Alto Children’s Theatre, Tabard Theatre Company, and California Theatre Center.

Clara toured extensively with Missoula Children’s Theatre as a Tour Actor/ Director  where she directed and performed hour long musicals with school age children in more than ninety different communities all over the US; from Phoenix, AZ to Anchorage, AK.  She also conducted a Spanish-speaking theatre residency with local children in Alamos, Sonora, Mexico.

She wishes to extend her deepest thanks to her family, friends, instructors–and especially her students, who have been her greatest teachers.
