The Music Man Jr.
Summer 2010
The Starting Arts Summer Theater Camp is something I look forward to every year. I get to work with talented students from all over the Bay Area, students who are dedicated to producing the best show possible while having a great time laughing, dancing, acting and singing. With out such dedicated students it would be impossible to put a production this size together in such a short amount of time. I’m extremely proud of our students. The camp has been demanding but The Music Man has been a labor of love for all of us. But this is not just about putting on a great show it’s also about learning concentration skills, teamwork, perseverance, personal responsibility and much more. The Music Man is based on a story by Willson and Franklin Lacey. The plot concerns Harold Hill, a con man, who poses as a boys' band organizer and leader and sells band instruments and uniforms to naive townsfolk before skipping town with the cash, and teaching the students how to play their instruments. This is one of my favorite musicals. I hope you will enjoy the exploits of Harold Hill as much as I do. Thanks you all for your time and dedication! It’s been nothing short of wonderful! Enjoy the Show! Michael Boston – Artistic Director, Starting Arts
