If you do not know or have not heard of the musical Grease, welcome to planet earth. This is one of those pieces of Americana that has become a staple of, not only musical theater, but indeed the cultural fabric of the collective American consciousness. In other words, I’m sure you’ve seen the movie. Feel free to sing along, in your head. This version is slightly different than what you remember. It’s lovingly referred to as the School Edition. Grease marks my 6th shows with Willow Glen Middle School. It has been quite a journey. In the beginning we had about 30 cast members, only 2 of which were boys. Since then the after school theater program has grown into a monster of a program, with well over 100 students in both our Fall play and Spring musical, incredible! (And yes, many of them are boys). The students have worked at a fevered pace to get Grease up on its feet! Not to mention the tireless efforts of our choreographers, music directors and producers who have taken this Middle School show to another level.
