STARTING ARTS TEAMS WITH NFL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION FOR INAUGURAL GALA TO BENEFIT CHILDREN’S AFTER SCHOOL ART PROGRAMS
 
Event to include guest appearances from former NFL players and Dancing with the Stars
 
SANTA CLARA—March 5, 2010-- Starting Arts announces their inaugural gala benefit, Raising the Curtain.   The evening will include entertainment, live auction, casino games, and special guest appearances from the NFL Alumni Association and Dancing with the Stars.
 
The event will take place Friday, March 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ralston Mansion, Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont.  Proceeds go to support quality after school visual and performing arts programs in public schools throughout the Bay Area.  For event and donation information, visit www.startingarts.com/raisingthecurtain.
 
“Starting Arts is looking forward to elevating support for the children’s art programs in the Bay Area,” said Ann Watts, Executive Director of Starting Arts. “It is our hope, that with the valued support of the NFL Alumni Association, people will do their part to keep the arts alive for today’s youth.”
 
Anticipated NFL Alumni guests include former 49er and current NFL Alumni Association President for Northern California Chapter,  Larry Schreiber; former Chapter President and Chicago Bears player,  Steve Kinney; former 49er, Allan Kennedy (1981 & 1984 Super Bowl teams); and Sherman White, former Buffalo Bills player.
 
 “The NFL Alumni's mission of Caring for Kids is well served by Starting Arts' after school programs,” said Larry Schreiber, NFL Alumni Association President for Northern California Chapter. “The NFL Alumni strives to make a difference in the lives of young people through positive support in a variety of programs throughout Northern California.”
 
In addition to luxury hotel packages, show tickets, and get aways, the gala’s live auction will include premium items donated by the NFL Alumni Association such as:
-Golf for three with NFL Alumni and former 49er great Frank Nunley at San Jose Country Club.
-Two tickets to a 49ers game, 49ers Alumni Tailgate tickets, and a meet and greet with 49er legends.
-Two entries for the 29th Annual NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic at the Olympic Club. This year, the NFL Alumni will honor 49ers great Roger Craig and former Raider Hall of Famer Ted Hendricks. Every group has an NFL Alumni Captain and the winning team goes to the Super Bowl of Golf- next year will be played in Florida.

Gala entertainment will include professional Latin Ballroom dance couple, Pavlo Barsuk from Dancing with the Stars, and partner Natalia Barantseva.
