STARTING ARTS AND DAWNRUNNER PRODUCTIONS ANNOUNCE PREMIERE OF “FORTUNES MINE”, ORIGINAL SHORT FILM FEATURING GRADE SCHOOL TALENT

Non-profit program creates big screen opportunities for local youth

SANTA CLARA-- October 1, 2009-- Starting Arts and Dawnrunner Productions partner for “Fortunes Mine”, an original children's short film spotlighting 6-12th grade acting and film production talent.  This production is an action-adventure story about a group of summer campers who unexpectedly find a lost mine near their camp while trying to find one of their friends.

“Fortunes Mine” will premiere on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 7:00pm at the Santa Clara High School Performing Arts Center (3000 Benton, Santa Clara). To attend the red-carpet event, RSVP to Starting Arts at 408-492-9022 or email michelle@startingarts.com. The event is free. To view movie trailer, visit www.dawnrunner.com/fortunesmine.

The film was shot during a three week summer film camp hosted at Wilcox High School in Santa Clara and Redwood Glen. Seventeen students were educated in advanced film-making techniques with focus on on-camera acting through hands-on instruction by trained film professionals from Dawnrunner Productions.

“This is a unique program that allows young talent to have an active role in filmmaking,” said James Fox, Director of Dawnrunner Productions.  “Along with Starting Arts, we have created an exceptional, one-of-a-kind film camp for young talent to experience the professional world of filmmaking.”

“At Starting Arts our primary goal is to support and grow arts education,” said Ann Watts, Executive Director of Starting Arts.  “We are excited to release this film as a successful product of our distinctive program offering, which connects students with expert training and exceptional opportunity.”

“Fortunes Mine,” is preceded by the companies’ first student short film, “Singularity” which will be featured this week at the Los Angeles International Children’s Film Festival.  The film was also presented at the San Diego International Children's Film Festival in August.
