Starting Arts newest program – InterAct – brings engaging dramatic presentations to your school! The InterAct program offers 45-minute interactive performances that tie together the dramatic arts and educational content.. Students are involved in the storytelling by use of directed dialog, pantomime, costume pieces, and props. Starting Arts believes that students need opportunities to become actively involved in creative processes rather than merely observers. Most dramatic performances are only passively viewed by student audiences. InterAct involves students in the active participation of high-energy, engaging productions that will spark their imaginations while teaching them concepts. Each production also provides teachers with a master packet of enrichment materials. Schools may duplicate materials for use in the classroom both before and after interacting with the performance. This fall, Starting Arts is pleased to present two InterAct productions: Creating CharACTer Suitable for Grades K-3 Students can become a part of Aesop’s famous fables in this engaging and entertaining experience. Three stories are presented with the help of students both on the stage with our actors and in the audience. Not only will these stories entertain, they also explore the timeless values of honesty, industry, and caring. As the students create characters with Aesop, they will also create character within themselves. Independence! Suitable for Grades 3-5 Our actors will take your students on an interactive journey of how our country came to be. They’ll discover why the Founders felt compelled to declare their independence. They’ll become the people that shaped the formation of this historic document. Students will get right inside the events surrounding the Declaration of Independence and see it from a whole new perspective. Full audience participation will make this era of history one students are sure to remember. For more information, read our FAQs or contact the Starting Arts office.
