"Like a plant, the work of art is vital. It grows spontaneously from a root and unfolds its form gradually outward." -Arthur Dove

I was born in San Diego, California and later grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. My interest in art started with a family trip to Europe; for three months, we toured art museums, cathedrals and architectural sights in our orange VW Bus. I was eight years old.

I received a B.F.A. in pictorial arts and a minor in illustration in December of 2001 from San Jose State University. I love teaching children art because they get to use their imagination, solve problems about materials, and express their creativity. I think children's artwork is amazing in its creativity and innocence. I've been an art teacher since 2000.

I am a painter and I get my inspiration from nature. When I paint I feel a connection to spirit, and am in touch with a more intuitive place in myself. I also do portraits and abstract work. Arthur Dove is an artist whom I am interested in for his abstract paintings and his correlation of the painting process to nature:
