Elisabeth Schipper

Elisabeth Schipper grew up dancing in the Bay Area and continues her dance education both here and around the world. She began dancing as a little girl and received much of her primary training from South Bay Dance Center. There, she performed lead roles in ballet productions such as The Nutcracker and Coppelia and shared the bill with Jekyns Pelaez and Christopher Bonomo. She also performed with the Pure Dance Teen Performing Company, now known as Pure Dance Productions.
Elisabeth attended California State University, Long Beach and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance. During her years there, she had the opportunity of studying with many great artists including Keith Johnson, Holly Johnston, Sharon Kinney, Sophie Monat, Douglas Nielsen, Andrew Vaca, and Steve Zee. She performed in original works by Andrew Vaca and many fellow students in addition to restaged excerpts from Les Sylphides and Don Quixote. Elisabeth also had the honor of performing in George Balanchine’s Serenade, restaged by Zippora Karz. Before graduating, Elisabeth studied abroad in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia taking dance classes at Deakin University and all around the city. Almost immediately after graduating, she returned to Australia to continue taking classes all around the country to further her education in both dance and culture.
Elisabeth has taught dance to people of all ages and levels at various dance studios throughout California. She currently teaches at South Bay Dance Center and is excited to be a part the Starting Arts team.
