Kathryn Stephens
"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once they grow up." - Pablo Picasso
Kathryn believes in in teaching what you are passionate about and she shares her love of Theatre and Dance with her students. As a child she began dancing at a young age and that led her to pursue opportunities to perform in Musical Theatre productions in her hometown of San Jose. She found such joy in performing that she decided to make a career of giving children the opportunity to discover their own passions and talents through the Arts. To that end, she attended Cal Poly where she earned degrees in Theatre and Education. Upon graduation, Kathryn eagerly began teaching and choreographing with programs throughout California, such as California Theatre Center, Children's Creative Project, PCPA Youth Theatre, Class Act Dance and Performing Arts Studio, San Luis Obispo Little Theatre and Summer Theatre Arts Repertory Company . The past fours years she has focused her attention on teaching her young daughters at home. With her family recently relocating back to the Bay Area from the Central Coast, Kathryn is thrilled to be joining the Starting Arts team and to return to the classroom.
