Kelly Velasquez

Kelly VelasquezDancing since the age of four, Kelly has over 15 years of professional dance experience in film, television, industrials and musical theater. Her list of credits include, The Academy Awards, The American Music Awards, Disney's nationally-televised movie premier for the "Hunchback of Notre Dame", "Tap" starring the belated Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis Jr., and "North" starring Bruce Willis and Elijah Woods. The former Los Angeles Laker Girl has also done industrial work with leading  corporations such as NBC, Warner Bros., Reebok, and LA Gear. In addition, she worked with stars such as John Lithgow, Vanessa Williams, Reba McEntire, Dan Akroyd, Brian Adams, Little Richard, Brooke Shields, and Carmen Electra. With dance, Kelly has performed throughout the world, including Italy, Germany, China, Korea, Turkey, and Portugal.

After years of teaching for Holland America Cruise lines, UCLA's musical theater program, and various dance studios, Kelly started a.k.a. Dance Company in Sept. 2001. She served both as the executive and artistic director of the company for six years. Several of her company dancers have received prestigious scholarships from dance organizations such as ABT, Jacob's Pillow, and New York City Dance Alliance. Some have been accepted to elite collegiate dance programs at the University of California at Irvine and Santa Barbara, and some are currently represented by a leading Hollywood talent agency.

Most recently, Kelly taught Dance Study for American Musical Theater of San Jose's Theater Arts Conservatory. This was Kelly's second season with the program.
